One of the unexpected turns of finishing Art-Write is that I’m now spending my time doing exactly what my book advises artists to do – I’m talking and writing about my work. In this recent post on The Creative Publisher blog, the interviewer’s questions helped me to express ideas about my writing process that I hadn’t expressed before the interview.
TCP Talks With Vicki Krohn Amorose about Niche, Self-Promotion and Writing for Who You Want to Hang Out With
Ask a friend to interview you about your artwork! It’s so helpful to have the perspective of another person, a different mind, to investigate what they see. We artists get caught up in the eddies of our own thoughts. We need outside perspective.
You can set up an interview in written form with emailed questions, or record a conversation if you prefer to talk. You’ll be surprised by ideas that come to the surface, ideas expressed in words, useable content for your artist statement and promotional material.
