August is traditionally the time for Visual Arts Week here in my town of Eugene, Oregon. This year I have a video in the Mayor’s Art Show
You can also view my video, The Adventures of Steadman and Molly, on YouTube
The MAS exhibit is mostly online in 2020, with a few works displayed in storefront windows downtown. During August, The Adventures of Steadman and Molly is projected in the window of the old LCC building at 1059 Willamette. That’s directly across from the central bus station and I’m delighted to think about the randomness of who might view my surreal little story.
I’m also pleased that Critical MAS, an art writing project I helped to launch last summer, found funding from the City to pay three writers this year. I’m a strong believer in the power of words, and proud to help publish local writers addressing local art. Read my introduction and the three essays here
Art workers and artists amaze me with their determination. Love and art are entwined with survival, and inspiration is inseparable from mental health. I look to other creative minds to strengthen my spirits during trying times.
